Most lists of where to stay in Jeju rank hotels by stars and skip the geography. Jeju is a large island with a mountain in the middle, and the airport sits on the north coast, so the area you pick decides whether a day trip takes 30 minutes or two hours. This guide compares six areas by airport link and nearby sights, with two Agoda hotel picks for each.
Ratings, review counts and distances come from Agoda listings as of October 2026; bus and taxi details come from the Korea Airports Corporation and Visit Jeju. Room prices change daily, so each card links to today’s rate.

What Is the Best Area for Where to Stay in Jeju?
There is no single best answer to where to stay in Jeju, but there is a best base for your plans. For the coasts, Visit Jeju lists express bus 101 along the east coast (with a Hamdeok stop) and 102 along the west coast (through Aewol and Hallim). Express and limousine fares start at 2,000 won with a transport card and top out at 3,000 won. Mistakes to Avoid When Choosing Where to Stay in Jeju
- Booking by stars alone. A five-star resort in Seongsan adds a long ride from the airport.
- Assuming Seogwipo is near the airport. Limousine buses take about 70 to 80 minutes.
- Choosing Aewol, Hamdeok or Seongsan without a transport plan. Buses run less often than in Seoul, so a car or taxi helps.
- Switching hotels every night. Pick one base and take day trips; the Jeju itinerary shows how.
- Forgetting the swimming season. Hamdeok’s official swimming hours are 10:00 to 19:00 in 2026.
- Searching only “Jeju” on a booking site. The city search covers the whole island, so filter by the area you want.
