Dongdaemun means two stations. Dongdaemun Station (Lines 1 and 4) is by Heunginjimun, the old city gate, and the Jongno 6-ga market streets. DDP is Dongdaemun History & Culture Park Station, where Lines 2, 4 and 5 meet; the plaza’s own page names Exits 1 and 2 as the closest (ddp.or.kr). They are one Line 4 stop apart. Hotels cluster between them along Toegye-ro and Euljiro, so pick your hotel’s station first; it decides the bus.
1. Airport Limousine and KAL Buses: The Best Incheon Airport to Dongdaemun Option with Bags
Airport Limousine 6001 is the bus to know. airport.kr lists ₩17,000, with T1 buses from 05:29 to 23:09 (1F stop 5) and T2 from 05:39 to 22:49 (B1 stop 29). After 08:00 the gap is about 10 to 17 minutes. After Seoul Station and Myeong-dong it serves Baiton Hotel, Nine Tree Hotel Dongdaemun, Novotel Ambassador Dongdaemun, DDP, Toyoko Inn (Splaisir Dongdaemun) and Toegye-ro 6-ga (Skypark Dongdaemun).
KAL Limousine 6702 (₩18,000) runs every 35 to 45 minutes via Gongdeok, Seoul Station, Itaewon and Namsan, then Summit Hotel Seoul, Splaisir Hotel Dongdaemun, DDP, JW Marriott Hotel Dongdaemun, Hotel Skypark and Ambassador Seoul Pullman. It leaves T1 from 06:05 to 23:05 and T2 from 05:45 to 22:45 (klimousine.com). So yes, 6702 stops at DDP; it suits the Marriott and Pullman side but runs far less often than 6001.
Airport Limousine 6002 (₩17,000) is the Heunginjimun bus. It runs via Hongik Univ., Sinchon, Gwanghwamun and Jongno 1 to 6-ga to Dongdaemun (Heunginjimun Gate), then on to Cheongnyangni; airport.kr shows 77 runs a day. The operator says cash or a transport card works. It makes many stops; use it only for hotels by Jongno 6-ga or Dongdaemun Station.
No operator publishes a day-bus ride time. Two operator pages disagree on how 6001 and 6002 take payment, so buy at the counter or machine and confirm the same day.

2. AREX Express or All-Stop: Train Options for Incheon Airport to Dongdaemun
AREX has no Dongdaemun stop, so every train trip involves a transfer. The faster plan is the AREX Express to Seoul Station: 43 minutes from T1 and 51 from T2 on the weekday timetable. AREX lists ₩13,000 (KKday sells it for ₩11,500); the KKday QR voucher is not the boarding ticket, so redeem the 13-digit code first. At Seoul Station take Line 4 toward Danggogae: DDP is 4 stops and Dongdaemun Station 5. Adding about ₩1,550 and 20 minutes for the subway (estimates), the total is about ₩14,500.

The cheaper plan is the all-stop train to Gongdeok: ₩4,650 from T1 and ₩5,250 from T2 (AREX fare table). Gongdeok is on Line 5, which runs straight to DDP in 7 stops. Allow about 55 minutes on AREX and 15 on Line 5 (estimates; AREX publishes 59 and 66 minutes to Seoul Station). Total about ₩6,200 from T1 or ₩6,800 from T2.

3. Taxi, Uber and International Taxi: Incheon Airport to Dongdaemun
Seoul city’s fare page lists a sedan base of ₩4,800 up to 1.6 km, then ₩100 per 131 m, with +20% from 22:00 to 23:00, +40% from 23:00 to 02:00 and +20% from 02:00 to 04:00. My taxi estimate, with the arithmetic
The calculation assumes 54-60 km by road to DDP, which is not an official figure. By day: (54,000 – 1,600) / 131 = 400 steps x ₩100 + ₩4,800 = ₩44,800; at 60 km it is 446 steps and ₩49,400. Add the toll: about ₩48,000-53,000. From 23:00 to 02:00 the meter is 40% higher: ₩44,800 x 1.4 = ₩62,700 and ₩49,400 x 1.4 = ₩69,200, plus toll, about ₩66,000-72,000. Traffic time charges and any outside-city surcharge are not included. Split four ways, a daytime ride is about ₩12,000-13,300 each.
International Taxi uses fixed zones: Jung-gu and Jongno-gu (DDP, Heunginjimun) are zone C at ₩85,000 for a sedan and ₩120,000 for an SUV or van; Dongdaemun-gu is zone D at ₩90,000 and ₩130,000 (english.seoul.go.kr). That is roughly ₩32,000-37,000 above the daytime estimate: it buys a fixed price, not savings. Use marked stands; the airport warns about overcharging call vans.
4. Landing at 05:00 or 23:00: Times and Terminals for Incheon Airport to Dongdaemun
T1 vs T2: AREX costs ₩600 more from T2 and the Express takes 51 minutes instead of 43. N6701 takes 90 minutes from T2 against 70 from T1. Bus stops: 6001 is T1 1F stop 5 and T2 B1 stop 29; 6702 is T1 stop 3 and T2 B1 stop 18; N6002 is T1 stop 6 and T2 B1 stop 30 (airport.kr).

Landing at 23:00: the last 6001 leaves T1 at 23:09 and T2 at 22:49, and the last 6702 at 23:05 and 22:45, so immigration alone can beat them. The last all-stop AREX that reaches Seoul Station leaves T1 at 23:38 and T2 at 23:32; the later 23:56 and 23:50 trains end at Digital Media City. By AREX’s 59 and 66 minutes that is about 00:37 at Seoul Station. Check Line 4’s last train on the Seoul Metro site. Traveller-posted tables show a weekday last train toward Danggogae after midnight but one near 23:47 on weekends and holidays, so check before you rely on it.
After midnight: N6701 (₩18,000; ticket booth, machine or Tmoney GO app) stops at Mapo, Seoul Station, Euljiro 1-ga and DDP. Leaving T1 at 23:50, 00:40, 01:40, 03:45 or 04:40, or T2 at 23:30, 00:20, 01:20, 03:25 or 04:20, it reaches DDP at 01:00, 01:50, 02:50, 04:55 or 05:50 (airport.kr). A four-person night taxi split four ways (₩16,500-18,000 each) costs about the same per head.
N6002 (₩17,000, ticket only) leaves T1 at 00:00, 00:30, 01:00, 01:40, 04:00 and 04:40, and T2 at 23:40, 00:10, 00:40, 01:20, 03:40 and 04:20. It reaches Heunginjimun after 75 minutes from T1 or 95 from T2, then ends at Cheongnyangni.
Last 1 km: From the Bus Stop or Station to Your Hotel Near DDP
Many 6001 and 6702 stops are named after hotels (Nine Tree, Novotel Ambassador, JW Marriott, Skypark, Ambassador Pullman); check your booking against the stop list and the bus is your last kilometre. By train, leave DDP Station by Exit 1 for the plaza and DDP Market, or Exit 2 for the Design Lab entrance and the park (ddp.or.kr). Dongdaemun Station is one more Line 4 stop for Heunginjimun.
