Bottom line: the easiest ski resorts near Seoul for a day trip are Konjiam, Elysian Gangchon and Vivaldi Park, and a ski bus package with rental, a lift pass and a lesson costs from about ₩120,000 per person. Yongpyong and Phoenix are better as long days or overnight stays. No resort has published official 2026-27 opening dates yet (as of 15 October 2026).
Quick Korea Travel Guide
Getting in: Landing at Incheon? See every airport-to-Seoul option. Yongpyong also runs a winter-only airport ski bus (details below).
Stay in touch: Get a Korea eSIM from Airalo before you fly (from $4.00, as of October 2026). Resort valleys can have patchy signal, so download maps first.
Download first: Naver Map for routes and Kakao T for taxis.
Where to book: GetYourGuide ski and snowboard tours from Seoul or the Elysian Gangchon ski day tour on KKday (from ₩27,000 for the shuttle-only option, 4.5 from 675 reviews, as of 15 October 2026).
Getting around: Ski buses leave from subway exits, so a transit card helps. See T-money vs Climate Card (the tourist product is the Climate Card short-term pass).

Most pages about ski resorts near Seoul copy last winter’s opening dates and a single lift price. The resorts’ own pages still show the 2025-26 season as of 15 October 2026, so this guide labels every price with its season and shows where two official pages disagree. For winter weather, see the best time to visit Korea.
Quick answer
- Closest ski resorts near Seoul: Konjiam (a 40-60 minute drive per a KKday listing), Elysian Gangchon (about 1 to 1.5 hours) and Vivaldi Park (about 1.5 to 2 hours).
- Longer day trips: Phoenix Pyeongchang (a 12-hour tour on KKday) and Yongpyong (2.5 hours each way by bus per a GetYourGuide listing).
- 2026-27 opening dates: none posted on the resorts’ own pages. Typical openings are late November to early December (flagged below).
- DIY day cost: about ₩158,000 to ₩179,000 at Konjiam, and ₩174,000 at Yongpyong, for lift, rental and a ski suit (2025-26 prices).
- Cheapest way in: a ski bus package. The Elysian listing on KKday starts at ₩27,000 for transport and ₩122,500 for the default ski plan.
- Not skiing: snow sledding at Konjiam is ₩26,000 on weekdays and ₩29,000 at weekends for a 2-hour slot (2025-26 page).
When Do Ski Resorts Near Seoul Open in Winter 2026-27?
No official date yet. As of 15 October 2026, no 2026-27 opening notice has been posted, and prices still show the 2025-26 season. Korean resorts depend on snowmaking, so they announce openings only days ahead, when nights stay cold enough.

Two pointers from press coverage, not resort notices. A September 2026 industry roundup (EpicKor, 23 September 2026) says Phoenix Pyeongchang told the press it plans to open on 27 November 2026 and close on 14 March 2027, weather permitting. The same roundup lists last season’s actual openings: Yongpyong and Phoenix on 21 November 2025, High1 on 28 November, Vivaldi Park on 5 December, Elysian Gangchon on 6 December and Konjiam on 10 December. Treat all of this as a typical pattern, not a promise.
What to do: pick travel dates from mid-December to February, when every resort is normally running, and book flexible tours (KKday lists free cancellation up to 2 days before the Elysian tour). The Korea packing list has the winter layers.
1. Which of the Ski Resorts Near Seoul Should You Pick?
Distance decides a day trip. The times below come from tour and resort listings, not a single official timetable, so allow for weekend traffic.
| Resort | From Seoul | Best for | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Konjiam Resort (Gwangju, Gyeonggi) | 40-60 min drive (KKday listing) | Shortest trip, evening skiing | The Korean and English price pages disagree (see section 3) |
| Elysian Gangchon (Chuncheon) | About 1-1.5 h; also reachable by Gyeongchun Line subway | Beginners, no-car trips | Reseller listing: 10 slopes; resort info says a free shuttle links Baegyang-ri Station |
| Vivaldi Park (Hongcheon) | About 1.5-2 h by shuttle | Families, Snowyland sledding | KKday product 29113: 4.6 rating, 5K+ sold; Klook also lists an official day tour |
| Phoenix Pyeongchang | 12-hour day tour (KKday) | Intermediate skiers, scenery | KKday product 529782: 5.0 rating; see the resort’s season-pass page |
| Yongpyong (Pyeongchang) | 2.5 h each way by bus (GetYourGuide); airport ski bus about 3 h | Biggest resort, 28 slopes (listing) | Official English price, rental and airport-bus pages |
| High1 (Jeongseon area) | Farther than Yongpyong; plan an overnight stay | Overnight stays, a ski-pass trip | Check the resort site for current shuttle options |

If you only have one day and have never skied, Konjiam, Elysian Gangchon and Vivaldi Park are the practical ski resorts near Seoul. If you want the Olympic-scale resorts, plan a night in Pyeongchang and check KTX backup routes if you travel on a holiday weekend.
Overnight options near the slopes: Phoenix Hotel Pyeongchang for Phoenix Park, High1 Grand Hotel at High1 Resort and Vivaldipark at Vivaldi Park. Ratings are from Agoda as of Oct 2026.

2. How to Get to the Ski Resorts Near Seoul Without a Car
Shuttle buses from Seoul
Ski buses are the simplest option. Resellers list these pickup points for last season, so confirm the current ones when you book:
- Elysian Gangchon: pickups at Hongik University Station Exit 8, Namsan Yejang parking lot, Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station, Gangnam Station and Jamsil Station, leaving the resort around 15:30 (reseller listing, 2025-26).
- Vivaldi Park: Hongik University Station and Eulji-ro 1-ga Station near Myeongdong, returning around 18:00 (reseller listing).
- Konjiam: Jamsil Station Exit 4, with departures listed at 08:00, 11:00 and 14:30 (reseller listing).
- Yongpyong from Incheon Airport: a winter-only “Purple Ski Bus” from Terminal 1, 1st floor, stop 9C, about 3 hours non-stop; the resort’s page links the booking site (official page).
Pickups are near Hongdae, Myeongdong, Dongdaemun and Jamsil, so pick a hotel near a pickup exit.
Subway to Elysian Gangchon
Elysian Gangchon is the one resort you can reach by subway. Take the Gyeongchun Line to Baegyang-ri Station; resort materials say a free shuttle runs from the station to the resort every 20 minutes. Confirm trains in the Korail Talk app and carry a transit card (see T-money vs Climate Card). Allow about an hour from Sangbong Station, per the resort’s own wording.

3. What a Day at Ski Resorts Near Seoul Costs
All figures below are the 2025-26 prices that the resorts’ own pages still showed on 15 October 2026. Expect small changes when 2026-27 prices are posted.

Yongpyong charges ₩96,000 for an adult daytime lift pass, ₩48,000 for a full rental set and ₩30,000 for a daytime ski suit. That is ₩174,000 before food. The lift card needs a ₩1,000 refundable deposit, tickets are valid only on the day of purchase, and the rental desk keeps an ID card until you return the gear, so hand over a driving licence rather than the passport you need at your hotel.

Konjiam: two official pages, two price lists
Konjiam’s Korean price page lists a 6-hour adult lift ticket at ₩87,000 on weekdays and ₩105,000 at weekends, a 6-hour full rental set at ₩36,000 or ₩39,000, and clothing over 4 hours at ₩35,000. Its English page lists a 6-hour weekday ticket at ₩67,000 and a full set at ₩30,000. The two pages disagree, so budget with the higher Korean prices and confirm the final price at booking. A weekday day then costs ₩158,000 and a weekend ₩179,000, plus ₩12,000 for a helmet.

The key rules at a glance
| Item | Konjiam (Korean page) | Yongpyong (English page) | Other options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult lift | ₩72,000 (2 h) to ₩87,000 (6 h) weekday; ₩87,000 to ₩105,000 weekend | ₩96,000 daytime; ₩68,000 half-day or evening | Package tours bundle lift + rental |
| Full rental set | ₩36,000 weekday, ₩39,000 weekend (6 h) | ₩48,000 daytime (adult) | KKday Elysian plan from ₩122,500 incl. transport |
| Ski clothing | ₩35,000 (over 4 h) | ₩30,000 daytime, ₩45,000 all day | Included in most packages |
| Helmet | ₩12,000 (over 4 h) | Ask at the rental desk | Often an add-on |
| Lesson for foreigners | ₩220,000 (2:1, 2.5 h) | English group lesson on the resort page (check the current price) | Basic lesson usually in tours |
| Sledding | ₩26,000 weekday / ₩29,000 weekend (2 h) | See the sled page for the current price | Snowyland and sled packages in tours |
4. Ski Tours vs Doing It Yourself
A tour wins when you are alone, a beginner, or travelling without Korean. The package covers the bus, gear, clothing and often a 1-hour lesson. DIY wins for a group that already skis and wants late evening runs. Prices and ratings below are as of 15 October 2026.
| Tour | What it covers | Listed price and rating | Book |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elysian Gangchon ski day tour (KKday 136649) | Shuttle from Hongdae, Myeongdong or Dongdaemun; lesson, rental, lift options | From ₩27,000 (shuttle); default ski plan ₩122,500; 4.5 from 675 reviews | KKday |
| Yongpyong ski day tour (GetYourGuide) | Hotel pickup, 10-hour day, basic, full or shuttle-only options | From ₩134,156; 4.9 from 42 reviews | GetYourGuide |
| Elysian Gangchon with Eobi Ice Valley (GetYourGuide) | Five packages from shuttle-only to ski, sled or sightseeing | 4.7 from 36 reviews; price depends on package | GetYourGuide |
| Vivaldi Park ski day tour (KKday 29113) | Shuttle, lessons, gear, Snowyland options | 4.6 rating, 5K+ sold | KKday |
| Konjiam ski day tour (KKday 529605) | Seoul departure, ski clothes and equipment | See the product page for today’s price | KKday |
| Phoenix Pyeongchang day tour (KKday 529782) | 12 hours, ski lessons and lift options | 5.0 rating | KKday |

Check what is excluded. KKday’s Elysian listing says its equipment does not include gloves, ski socks, a neck warmer, goggles or protective gear, which you can buy on site. Konjiam’s rental list covers skis, boots, poles, clothing, helmets and protectors, with no gloves. Ski gloves from Daiso or a convenience store are cheaper than a resort shop.
5. Snow Sledding and Other Plans If You Do Not Ski
You do not need to ski to enjoy these ski resorts near Seoul. Konjiam runs a sled slope at ₩26,000 on weekdays and ₩29,000 at weekends per 2-hour slot, with one tube per person, no riders under 36 months or over 65, and a ticket needed for the adult supervising (Korean page, 2025-26 peak season 20 December to 18 February). KKday’s Vivaldi and Elysian listings include Snowyland, sled and sightseeing-lift options, and GetYourGuide’s Elysian tour adds Eobi Ice Valley.
Pair Elysian Gangchon with Nami Island and Petite France, which are in the same corridor. Back in Seoul, a jjimjilbang is a good way to thaw out.
Mistakes to Avoid
- Booking a fixed trip before the resort announces its opening. Korean resorts announce days ahead.
- Trusting one lift price. Konjiam’s English and Korean pages differ by ₩20,000 for a 6-hour weekday ticket.
- Leaving your passport as the rental deposit. Yongpyong holds an ID card at the desk, so bring a licence or a second ID.
- Planning Yongpyong or Phoenix as a relaxed day trip. The bus alone is about 5 hours round trip.
- Skipping gloves and socks. Packages often exclude them.
- Skiing without insurance. KKday’s own listing recommends travel or accident insurance; Korea emergency numbers lists 119 and 1330.
